AMUSEMENTS

THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES. Despite the inclement weather, there was a good attendance at the Foresters' Hall last evening, to witness the change of programme. The programme' submitted met with the unqualified approval of all beholders, who were very liberal with applaue. "Paris from the Eiffel Tower" was a 'wonderful production, and those who have not had the pleasure of visiting the French capital can get the next (best thing, a beautiful panoramic view of "Gay Paree." "The Valley of Albula" was also an excellent scenic, and was well received. "The Great Fair at Nijni Novgorod" gave a realistic impression of the immense fair for which this Russian town has .become famous. It is considered that Nijni Novgorod's annual market is the largest of its kind in Europe. "The Manufacture of .Rubber Goods" gave a good idea of the immenso size to which this industry has grown, and the rapidity with which the manufac-tui-ed articles are turned out. These views were taken at the North British Rubber Co.'a factory at Glasgow. "The. New Faith" was an excellent drama which depicted the trials of the early Christians. . The details of the plot and the final scene where iboth Christians take poison at the all powerful command of Caesar were well reproduced, allowing the story of the film to bo easily followed and* appreciated. "Little Soldiers," "Captain Brand's Wife," and "The Old Confectioner's Mistake" provided plenty of dramatic excitement for all. "Blighted Hopes," "Through His Wife's Picture," and "Ups and Downs" were distinctly good, and were productive of much hearty laughter. This excellent programme will be screened again to-night and ' {onntorrow evening.
