THE DISCREDITED PARTY.
I The pretensions of the discredited Liberal party are astounding. Although in a minority in the House, and entirely at the mercy of half-a-dozen Labourites and Independents, J they meet together, pass resolutions, .and talk as glibly as though : 6l the couutry was of no ■ concern. The presumption of these people in referring to .the Rs.ifor.in Tarty as. the "Conservatives," is. as arrogant as their ■ disintegration "is complete. Condemned at the polls in an unmistakeaible mariner, divided on most of the important issues of the hour, without either a leader or the makings of one, : the conglomerate of false Liberalism and mistaken independence is in about as desperate a condition as any combination of quack politicians could possibly be. To expect anything like decent order to evolve from such absolute chaos is to strain the possibilities to the point of'breaking.
