LAND-OWNERS.
One would think, from the tone of the remarks of some of the speakers in the House of Representatives on .Thursday, that it is a crime to be an owner cf laud in this country. Those city representatives, whose perspective does not extend beyond the town belt, appear to forget that the productivity of the soil is alone responsible for the existence of the' towns, and for the employment of men and women in the factories. They do not seem to realise that the greatest friend the working man possesses is the man upon the laud. Instead of disparaging the land-owner, the legislators of the Dominion would be doing themselves and [their constituents greater service hy making the lives of tillers of the soil more easy, and by encouraging the adoption of a system of land settlement which will make for the development of our splendid resources.
