THE PREMIER'S RETIREMENT. A:N EULOGISTIC RESOLUTION. (By Telegraph--i* reus Association.) WELLINGTON, Last Night. A caucus of allied parties was held this morning, at which all the forty votes given in the division last night for the- Government were represented. The proceedings were wry enthusiastic, the following resolution was carried:- "That this meeting of members, representative of the Liberal Party, Independent Liberals and Labour party, desires to tender to the Right Hon. Sir Joseph Ward its assurance of its hearty appreciation of his distinguished and valuable services as leader of the Liberal Party, a,nd congratulates him upon the many liberal and progressive reforms introduced by him and passed by the Government, which have proved of great benefit to the people of this Dominion. Those assembled also desire to congratulate Sir Joseph Ward upon the fact that the no-conffdenee. motion recently moved by the Opposition was defeated, and now that the "Right. Hon. gentleman is voluntarily retiring from the leadership, wish to express their great satisfaction at Sir Joseph's intention to continue to assist the Liberal and Labour progressive forcer- cf ,the Dominion in their common light against the Opposition and Conservative party: ' They are persuaded that the name of Ward .will be recorded in history as one of the foremost statesmen and ablest administrators in the Australasian Colonies." The motion was* moved by Mr Oolvin, seconded by Mr Rangiliiroa, and spoken to by all the newrecruits, and some of the old members of the Party. In a fortnight's time all the me'mbers'of the allied forces will ,re-ass?nißle in Wellington to discuss the- reconstruction of the Cabinet.
