MAURICEVILLE EAST. At a meeting of the County Cricket Club, held on Tuesday night, it was decided to hold a social and dance next Thursday. It is to ibe hoped that (by this means the finances of the Club will he greatly assisted. Eight stalwart Territorials paraded for the first time last Monday night, in the Hall. Quite a number of interested spectators -watched the youths go through their facings. The work of the school is very much disorganised just now, owing to the amount of sickness in the district. Mumps and chicken pox are very prevalent, and there is one case of typhoid fever. It is pleasing to note that the County Council are going to repair the footpath (we only boast of two), at the south end of the town. Mr Jar.. Goodgame, who lias been such a prominent figure in cricket i circles here since the commencement of the competitions, was the recipient of a handsome .present at the last meeting of the Club. It consisted of a large photograph, the individual members of the Qlub being snipped | separately, and the wtole "neater-"; ranged, hi an. oak frame: The- whole i work was executed in .a Very creditable manner iby Mr G. Blackmore and Mr G. Braggine. . The annual meeting of the School committee takes place on Monday next.
