MASTERTON CHARITABLE AID COMMITTEE

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting -of the Charitable Aid Committee was held in Masterton yesterday, morning. There were present,— Messrs J. B. Keith (chairman), W. Fisher, M. J. H. Jackson, Jas. Miller, H. J. O'Leary, W. Morris, D. J. Cameron and Mrs Cairns. , The Treasurer reported as follows: from last meeting, £26S 3s 4d; receipts for month, £l4 9s Sd; total, £282 13s. The expenditure for the montli totalled £49 13s Sd, leaving- a balance at date of £232 19s 4d. The pay sheet for the month, amdunting .to £4l Is 9d, in respect of charitable aid, and £3l lis 3d on account of the Solway Home, was. passed for payment. ~ The list of recipients of charitable aid was dealt with in detail, and in most cases the grants were renewed for the ensuing month.

It was resolved that the Matron of the Sol way Home be granted a month's holiday, and that the chairman and secretary ho authorised to make arrangements for temporarily filling the position. The matter of getting certain gravelling work done aroimd the . precincts of the Home was left in the hands of the visiting member for "the month (Mr Keith), with power tf>act.
