MR VEITCH'S SPEECH.

The maiden speech made by Mr W. A. Veitcli, M.P., in the House of Representatives yesterday, was bo full of hard, common-sense, that it makes quite refreshing reading after the drivel and vituperation of the la-st few days. Mr Veitch is'very sincere in'liis convictions on the questions of land and commercial monopolies, and he lias good reason to complain of the way in which these matters have' , been treated by Parliament in the past. A great-many people will differ from the member for Wanganui in his opinions, but none will accuse him of lack of sincerity, and few will be found to deny that in tho manner o,f his speech he has s?t an example to manv 'older members of the House.
