AN EXCUSE.
It is saiH' that the attitude of cer- . tain supporting the Reform Party,, over the recent tramway strike in Wellington,, has influenced the Laibour vote in Parliament against l Mr Massey. It is impossible to be- ' lieve that such, can be tire case. Apart from the fact that Mi" Massey's actions are not influenced in one way or the other fey the policy of tlie newspapers, the Leaider of the- Eeforra (Party lias not expressed any opinion on the merits of the Wellington strike. The toly puibli'c pronouncement that has been made on the subject by members of the Legislature was in tlie' Legislative Council. And > what happened there ?. Two of the Government nominees spoke in the strongest possible terms against the strikers. One went so far as to describe a strike as "barbarotts.''' How does this fit in with tlie unwarrantable statements which have been, made concerning the Reform- Party?
