SERIES OF ACCIDENTS
1 AT THE IMABTERTON SHOW... A series of accidents, some of which were unfortunately-of a rather serious olianactor, occurred during the jumping events on.'.the' Masterton showground yesterday afternoon. In the ladies' leaping event, Mr R. Morrisson's Rata, ridden by Miss Jessie Angus, of Hastings, struck the first hurdle and turned a somersault. Miss Angus was thrown-onto her head, and sustained a concussion of the biuin. She was attended by Dr. Archer Hosking, and, on recovering consciousness, was removed to Nurse White's private hospital in the ambulance brougham. Her injuries are not Kkely to prove serious. In the champion jump, Mr Colin McLaren's Comrade baulked at a brush fence and fell on top of its rider, Mr Claude Benn-tir who sustained a fracture of several' ribs, and a broken - collar-.boixe. Mr Bennett was medically attended, and was conveyed to Nurse Spellman's private hospital. * It will be some time before he will be able to get about again. In the Consolation Jump, Yeast a«d Seal came to grief. The former was ridden by Mr Tas. Smith, who received a number of severe cuts about the head and face. "Mr F. Seccwmibe, the rider of Seal, was severely bruised and shaken.
