Mr Charles Marrter, a. well-known. Sydney journalist, and formerly of Masterton and Wellington, is at present on a visit to New Zealand. Mr A. Cowper, of the Masterton Post Office, has been, transferred to To Kait-aka Post Office, in the Gisborne district, and will leave this week for his now appointment. Tho friends of Miss Ethel Johnston, daughter of Mr Edwin Joluiston, of Hogg Crescent, Masterton., who. has been suffering from throat troubles, will bo pleased to hear that sho has undergone a. successful operation at Napier. His Excellency the Governor (Lord Islington) who was present at the Masterton show yesterday, returns to Wellington this morning. Mr James Ross, of Hawke's Bay, who had a hlacl&m.it>h's business in Masterton twenty-live years ago, was a visitor to the Solway show.
