PARLIAMENT.
LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL THE LATE MR BARCLAY. (By Tehgraph—l'icsi Association.) WELLINGTON, Last Night. Tho Legislative Council met at '2.30. After recording appreciation of the public services of the late Mr A. K. Barclay, and sympathy with lus lanuly the Council adjourned until to-morrow. HOUSE OP REPRESENTATIVES. Tho House of Representatives met «t 2.30 p.m. Replying to a question, the Hon. R. McKenzie stated that the A\ ai u-lau-ranga-East Coast railway would probably be commenced within a tortnight, or certainly within a month. THE LATE AIR BARCLAY. Sir Joseph Ward informed the Houso that he had tho painful duty to perform, that of moving a resolution of condolence in connection with •the death of Mr A. R. Barclay, who had sat in the Houso for two -Parliaments. Ho moved that the House place on record its high appreciation of tho faithful services rendered the country by the Me Mr Barclay, and extends its sympathy to the.widow and family. ■■ ~ ~ Mr Massey seconded the motion, which was carried after tributes had been paid the deceased's memory by the Hon. J. A. Millar, and Messrs &. M. Thompson and T. K. Sidey. Tho House adjourned at 3.30 until ■8.30, as a mark of respect to the late member.
