THE DIXON CUP. R ETA I NED BY MASTERTON. The green wan very heavy after the recent rains, but the- play was on the whole good. Masterton led off with a single in the first head, whilst Woodville put up 4 in the second. At the seventh head the local men were three ahead, which Woodville wiped out by scoring 3 in the eighth head. A. single by the challengers made the score— Woodville 10. j Masterton 9. ?vlasterton then set to work with a will, and put on 6 in the next three .heads. At the tea adjourn-' monk Masterim) were 19 to Wnoclville's 12. From then to the final head I the holders compiled 9, and the challengers a single,' the final scores being 28 to 13 in favour of Masterton. W, Wilkes, who" had played a magnificent game, as "lead in the match' against Woodville, suffered defeat at the hands of Blinkhorne in the semifinals of the Handicap Singles. Both men played a splendid game, but the honours rested with Blinkhorne, | with'a score of 20 against 14. •
