MASTERTON SHOW

OPENING TO-MORROW. The twenty-fifth annual show of the Masterton. A. and P. Association will open on the beautiful showgrounds at .Masterton' to-morrow (Tuesday). Exhibits and visitors are already pouring in, and everything points to a gathering superior in every respect to anything previously held in the district. At the rime of writing the weather appears to be settled,, and there is reason to hope that, the elements will be all that could be desired. The grounds are just now in the very pink of condition, and everything is in readiness for the reception of exhibits and the entertainment of the public. A staff of men has been employed during the last few days putting the jumps in order, mowing the lawns, and otherwise completing arrangements. The entries total over 2000, and catalogues giving the fullest details will be available this afternoon. The show of fat sheep and cattle will probably be the best ever seen in the Dominion. Of the former no fewer than 932 will bo on exhibition, and: of the latter 106. There will also he a splendid show of horses, produce, etc' The, agriculttiral hall has been specially fitted up to accommodate the large exhibit in this connection. Vehicles will be run' at all hours from Masterton to the grounds, and the train arrangements will he convenient for visitors. Tomorrow will be what is generally known as "judging day," when stewards and judges will be engaged in the pens from morning till evening. Several jumping competitions will however, bo got off, and these will af-foi-d interest to the general public. Mr H. M. Boddington has been busily engaged making arrangements for the accommodation of visitors, and many private houses have been made available for the occasion. Side shows—of which there are seven—have already arrived, and the tents are being pitched in a convenient part of the ground. Picnic parties will be interested to know that hot water will be available on both days of the show. A" detailed reference to the exhibits will appear in to-morrow morning's "Age," and extra copies of the paper will be available, with a complete prize-list, on the mornings of i Wednesdav and Thursday.
