CALEDONIAN SOCIETY
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Wai rarapa Caledonian Society was held in the Dominion Hall on Saturday afternoon, there being present,— Messrs A. McLeod (chairman), Geo McHattie, R. Cameron, T. Wyeth, J. H. Pauling, R. McKenzie and J. McRae. The .following new members were elected: — Messrs W. Rutherford, D Flett and J. Grant. A letter, was received from the Superintendent of the Petone division o f 5.J.A.8., acknowledging receipt of the challenge shield, won by that division at the Society's last meeting, and £3 prize money. He also thanked the Society for placing on their programme a first aid event, and thereby creating interest in a very deserving organisation. It was decided' to forward a .letter of condolence to Mr Robert McGregor. A letter was read with reference to -an application ■ for' assistance from a man in Auckland who-'recently arrived, from Scotland,.and who had met with considerable adv-ersitj. A letter., liad-.,since heeii reeettwd'by th • secretary, stating that the man lui-i received assistance and had found employment in Auckland, and would not call upon the Society, as he intended to remain in New Zealand *for th? present. , .
