WHAT MR COOPER SAID.
Certain newspapers in the Dominion are quoting the report appearing in the columns of our local contemporary to show that Mr 0. C. Cooper actually advocated the removal of the poll-tax from Chinamen. He. have nothing to say about the report of. our. contemporary, other than' that the impression it conveyed has been disclaiihed by the; President of the Association. Our contemporary also makes .an explanation in which it suggests that the "reporters" were mistaken. In this connection we wish it distinctly understood -that the reporter/;of the ' 'Age" made no mistake. : The report, as it appeared in this paper, made Mr Cooper state that it-had.been'-"suggested" that the poll-tax be removed. • That this report is substantially -correct is borne out by. tho statement of the President. <
