MISS O'LEARY WINS LADIES' EVENT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) GHIPiSTCHUROH, Last Night. The New Zealand Amateur Swimming Championship meeting' was opened to-night, at the municipal tepid baths. There was a very large attendance, many who had not reserved seats being unable,-to gain admission. Results: — 100 Yards Championship of New Zealand.— First heat: C. Brice (Wellington) 1; L. Weston <Ponsonby) 2; Jerres (Opa-wa) and Claringbold (Wanganui) also competing. . Won by a yard. Time, 66 3-osecs. Second heat: W. E. Cookson (East Christchurch) 1; A. O'Hare (Waitemata), 2. Also competed— C. Wilson (Wai(temata), and G. Seymour (Napier). ! Wilson won, but was disqualified for omifting to touch the fop of the bath.. No time taken, Wilson's -time '"being the only one available. Third 'heat:M. E. Champion (Waitemata) 1; J."D. Stewart (Waitemata) 2, Also started— H. Waklen (Hastings), R. Healey (New South Wales), and E. J. Dawson (Dunedin). Time, 66 2-ssecs. Final.— Champion 1, "Weston 2, O'Hare 3. Won by four yards. Time, 66 3-osecs. Ladies' Handicap, 33 l-3yds.— Miss A. Q'Leary (Mastertori), scr., 1 ; Miss L. Mackay (Waitemata) 2. Time 25secs. 66 2-3 rd Yards Inter-Club.— L. j McDonald (East Christchureh), 13 sees., 1. Time, SOsecs. I One Mile Championship.— First I heat: M. E. Champion (Waitemata) 1; R. Newman (Dunedin) 2; L. Hill | (Papanui) 3. F. J. Kernot (Ponsoni by) also competed. .
