CARTERTON. Mr W. C. Buchanan, M.P., is making energetic representations to the Minister for Agriculture, with a view of improving the careless and injurious way that cheese is at present conveyed by rail to the port of grading and shipment. A number of new books have recently been added to the shelves of the Carterton Public Library. A start has been made with the erection of a new operating room in the southwest end of the Carterton Tost Office. Commencing from Wednesday, the Carterton Telephone Exchange will be kept open from 8 a.m. till 10 p.m., a convenience which will, no doubt, be fully appreciated by the subscribers. The swimming baths which have been constructed at the Belvedere School measure .55 feet by 18 feet, and will run a depth of from sft to 3ft The approximate cost is £3O, and as soon, as the Wairarapa' South County Council lay their pipes across i the road, will be ready for use. A half holiday is to be observed in | Carterton on Wednesday next, the occasion of the People's Day of the Masterton Show. ' Mr'N. The executive who visited Mas-1 terton on Wednesday in connection ' with the matter have arranged for all, local bodies to be circularised, asking them-To appoint delegates to attend a meeting at Masterton on March 6th, to go thoroughly into the mat- : ter.
