Cycle 'Club's sports held on the Hastings Racecourse on Boxing Day, the Triumphs again practically swept the board. 'Out of an entry of 12 machines representing 5 different makesi the Triumphs secured ten firsts, seven seconds, and 4 thirds out of a possible eleven events. This performance is all the more remarkable when it is. consifiered iSiafc the Triumphs had to concede large handicaps to machines of equal power and six of the ten first machines were ridden by amateur riders-. On December 30fch, Mr ,T. L. Braithwaite left for Wellington on his Triumph motor cycle to make an attempt oni the existing figures of the Wellington, to Napier record—viz., Shirs 35mki., established by Mr H. L. Schaeffer. on New Year's Day, 1909, also on a Triumph. In spite of several attempts on other makes of .machines, this record has l stood to the credit of the Triumph for three years. Mr Bnatthwiaite left the Wellington Post Office at 4.20 a.m. on •New Year's Day, and; arrived at the Napier Post Office at 10.57 a.m., his time being Shirs. 38min., Towering the previous record by nearly two hours. The Triumph ran perfectly from fitart to finish, the only two stops being to take in petrol and oil. It is only .perfect machines made from the finest material procurable that ©an. average 33£ miles an hour over •230 miles of New Zeafliand roads. _ v Those who were at the Napier Post Office at the finish couK not "help but remark on the perfect condition of the machine at the finish.
