HONOURED BY THE KING WILL HE BECOME PREMIER? (Received Last Night, 9.35 o'clock.) LONDON, February 13. The King has created Sir Echvard Grey a Knight of the Garter. The Daily Graphic suggests that the almost unprecedented honour to a "gathering Commoner" is a prelude to Mr Asquith's resignation, and Sir Edward Grey's elevation to the Premiership. This Avould be distasteful to the Radicals and Labourites, but the best Liberal's Avould welcome it. The Garter indicates that Sir EdAvard Grey commands the Soverconfidence. It is significantthat Mr Va'ughan Nash, Mr Asquith's private secretary, has been appointed 'Vice-Chairman of the Development Commission. The Graphic adds: "Mr Haklane's visit is intended to assure the Kaiser that Sir Echvard i Grey's Premiership Avould not diminj ish the desire of the Cabinet to arrI ive at a friendly understanding Avith j Germany."
