THE WELLINGTON MENT. SHIELD' WON BY WELLINGTON. (By Telegraph — Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Last Night. The Provincial Athletic Championship meeting took place yesterday, onf the Basin Reserve. About a thous-J and spectators .were present. A strong cold southerly interfered considerably; with' the racing, and the majority of the times recorded were poor. Only twice were the standards baten, and in one case it could not be allowed, ! as the wind was dead behind the winner.
