A grant of £5 was made by the Master ton Trust Lands Trustees last evening to the Masterton South Brass Band, which the chairman expl.u«<i3 had kept faith with the public in supplying open-air performances. - An estimate of assets and liabilities for the balance of the year ending March 31st next was submitted to the Master ton Trust Lands Trust at its meeting last night. This allowed a probable expenditure of £1786 10s 7d, less a debit balance at the bank of £3SllOs lid. The rents collectable are estimated at £550. A debit balance will thus be s&own of £1236 10s 7d^-.
The Building Com-mittee of the Masterton Trust Lands Trust reported to the Trustees last evening that the new building in Queen Street was now occupied. The contract price of the building was £4980; additions, asphalt, draanage, etc., £126 8s; architect's fees and advertising, £263 18s 6d; making the total cost of the building £5370 6s 6d. A further expenditure in renovating shed, etc., is required. At the meeting of the Managers of the Masterton Technical School last evening a letter was read from Mr Wilmot C. Quinnell (M.R.C.V.S., Lond.), instructor in veterinary science to classes at the Wellington, Palmerston and Wangnnui Technical Schools, offering his services as instructor to classes in connection with the Masterton Technical School. The Managers agreed that instruction in this subject should prove of great benefit to residents of this district, and instructed tho Secretary to reply to Mr Quinnell stating tl%t they would endeavour to establish classes for study .of this branch of education at Masterton. It was also resolved to endeavour to secure the co-operation of the Masterton A. and P. Association in connection with tho proposed classes. .
