TOWN WIPED OUT
A DISASTROUS FIRE .DAMAGE ESTIMATED AT £30,000 •('Received Last Night, 8.55 o'clock.) SYDiNEY, February 8. Afire'.at Mungindi, an inland township on tile Queensland border, wiped out the main business portion of the tfcown. Sixteen stores and other business premises were destroyed, or badly damaged, including the Bank of New South Wales. Many have been rendered homeless. (Numbers of occupants of the burning buildings escaped in their night fclothes. There is no water supply in the •town. The damage ranges in the vicinitv of £BO,OOO. ' The thermometer stood at 108 decrees in the shade at the time of the Outbreak.
