THE MASTERTON BRANCH. There wis' a large aitendance at the Y.M.C.A. rooms last evening, when the first Strangers' Tea of the present 1 yeax, which was provided by the Board of Management, assisted by the ladies of the Church of England, 'Hias held. Mr F'all'a, who presided, said he was pleased to see such an excellent attendaace. iSe had recently returned-from. a visit to. Auckland, and had attended/the Y.W.CA. in, that city. The meetings of the. local Y.M.C.A! compared, favourably with those held in the northern city. He urged upon those present to exercise their 'influence in bringing strangers, and ethers in. Masterton to J spend their spare time at the ! Y.M.C.A. rooms, where they had a library and other means of whiling away a pleasant hour. He then called upon Mr James McGregor to address the meeting. | Mr McGregor, who was received I with hearty applause, gave a most [ I'mpretsive discourse on "Content.;" He referred his hearers to Paul in lEphesiians, C. 4, V. 1, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you •that ye walk worthily of the vocation wherewith ye are called," and verse it, "There is one body, and: one spirit, even as ye are called in one hope ■c-f your palling," He (.Mr McGregor) advised those present to l>e satisfied •with what O'-d had given them, and Jsrave some striking- illustrations; of the great benefit that losulted from a contented and optimistic spirit. The continual greed for wealth and influence was a souirce of great danI ger and unhappiness to many.
