THE WEAVERS' UNION
A LEADER'S RESIGNATION. (Received Last Night, 5.5 o'clock.) LONDON, February 3. The Weavers' Union is enrolling many new members. The resignation of Mr Mabon, of the leadership of tine Welsh Miners' Federation is announced. The resignation is ostensibly due to ill-health, 'but in reality to his losing control of the miners.
GENERAL STRIKE ANTICIPATED. (Received February 3, 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, February 2. The Masters refused the cotton-wea-vers' application, for an increase in wages until-, peace has been restored. The operatives decline the terms, and a general strike is anticipated. Ex-tra police iha.ve been despatched to Nelson. DOCKERS CEASE WORK. (Received February 3, 12.40 p.m.) LONDON, February 2. Five thousand men at the Tilbury Dock have struck against tihe employment of non-unionists. The ship-owners wilt consider the situation on Monday next.
STRIKE AT TILBURY DOCKS. (Received Last Night. 5.5 o'clock') LONDON, February 3. Work at the Tilbury Docks is practically at a standstill. The wharves affected include those of the P. and 0. Company and the Orient Company. The dispute commenced owing to the employment of non>-undonist tally clerks.
