THE LATEST ADVICE.
The latest advice concerning the tramway strike in Wellington is by •nor means reriassuring: The men sub■mitted what seemed, to be a reasonable request to,.the Cbuncilj. ue.^that-j ■ Inspector Fuller's'- tran^fer" shotald form part "of the agreement for a settlement. This proposal evidently caused a ".scene" in the Council, and the meeting broke up without anything being done. The threat of a general .strike has now been made, which will only add fuel to the fire. The Council, as representatives of the people, are not likely to submit to coercion, and if anything precipitates a general strike it will be the 'threat of disinterested agitators. It is to be hoped that.the Council will 9)e in such a mood this morning that *it will be able to deal with the case "entirely on its merit®. i
