AN UNFORTUNATE ACCIDENT
ON BLAiRLOCIE HILL. An unfortunate accident occurred on the Blairlogie Hdll yesterday afternoon to a team of five brake horses belonging to Messrs Fly and Young, of Masterton. Mr Ted Dean, the driver, left Masterton early yesterday morning, with a three ton load of stores on the brake, on one of his, regular trios to Homewood. All went well until:"; they . reached Blairlogie Hill. When some distance down the cutting the front axle of the conveyance snapped. The brake and horses immediately capsized over the steep embankment.:' Mr™ Dean fortunately was thrown clear of' danger. The horses, however, were badly knocked about, and it was.discovered that one qf the most valuable had broken one trf its legs. It was subsequently found necessary to destroy the animal. Willing assistance was forthcoming from the Junction Hotel. The animal was a valuable one, and had taken several prizes in the show ring. Mr Young left for the scene of the accident last evening.
