OUR UNIVERSITIES.
The daily papers are full of University Senate. The people are wondering what at is all about. Briefly, our Universities, like many other of our social institutions, nave become miotheaten. They are conducted upon fixed' aca medical lines, which permit tof insufficient diversity, and are turning out scholastic cakeß which are very under-done. The whole system of* education is in need of reform. There is too much Professor, and Senate, and degree, and what the Plebeian would call "fal-de-ral," and too little common-sense teaching. Tlip time is not far distant when ithere will be a classification of pupils upon scientific lines, and education 'will be .imparted -to suit the character, disposition- : and' eiivirunment of our young people. jAt present much "of the' energy of " our teachers and !
