M.C.C TEAM IN AUSTRALIA MATCH AGAINST TASMANIA. (Received Last Nght, 10.25 o'clock ) LAUN'CESTON, January 23. The • Englishmen commenced a match to-day against Tasmania.; The weather is pleasant, and the wicket good. The omission of J. B. Hobbs, G. Gunn, J. AV. H. T. Douglas, and E. J. Smith from the team detracted considerably from the interest in the match. Tasmania, won the toss, and commenced batting at 2 o'clock, scoring 217, which, but for the failure of the last five wickets, which added only 25 runs, should have been materially .larger. Martin, Tumulty, and McKenzie gave sparkling chance less display's of versatile batting. I There was great disappointment at | Foster and Barnes not bowling.
