TATHRA DISASTER TWENTY-FOUR PERSCwS DROWNED. , (Received January 22, 8 a.m.) SYDNEY, January 22. The captain and a number of the crew of the steamer Tathra (owned by the IBawaorra and South Coast Stteam Navigation Company), which recently foundered at sea, have arrived here. Their srtory adds little to the cabled details. There were seventy persons aboard the steamer, which was riirining back to port before a sudden sitorm. A big sea broke over and swamped the steamer.- Sfae settled and,sank. Thefirst and second boats got clear. Many who were still aboard were thrown into tho sea, some ibeing picked up after being for hours in tine water. , Twenty-aour were drowned.
