THE SYDNEY TROUBLE BOTH SIDES TO BLAME. (Received Last Night, 9.20 o'clock.) SYDNEY, January 16. A deputation asked the Hon. Mr Beeby to see that the wharf labourers obeyed the award. The deputation stated till at owing to the inability to get vessels loaded in the hours the , labourers chose to work, Sydney was losing a trade whiclh had taken a long time to build up. Mr Beeby said he regretted the labourers' action, but botih sides were to blame. The owners fought the granting of an increased rate, yet they granted a.n increase in Melbourne. If the owners were more candid, the results would be different. He hoped soon !fco pass an ajnending Act, to enable liim to deal with similar difficulties. Past efforts had been spoiled by has opponents endeavouring to make political capital, out of them. AN INCREASE GRANTED. Received This Morning, 12.48 o'clock. SYDNEY, January 16. Following on the Hon. Mr Beeby's remarks, the shipowners met and decided to raise the wharf labourerspay to le sd, the same as the Melbourne rates. The Union will meet to consider tlie offer to-morrow.
