MEETING-OF COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of the General Committee of tfiie Masterton A. and P. Association was held on Saturday afternoon last, there being present: Messrs EL Morrison (President), R. J. Dagg, H. Dagg, E. C. Perry, W. H. Buict, D. Foreman, G. H. Shaw, J. James, W. Cooper, C. F. Via] lance, R. Gray, W. Perry, W;'J. Welch, E. C. I Harptv, H. A. .'Matthews' H.Evans, '{ E. G. Allen, 0. C. Cooper and D. McGregor, junr. Mr Joseph Dixon wrote, asking for the exclusive right of the privilege for the sale of non-alcoholic drinks at the show and ram fair. —It* was decided chat the privilege be sold by auction, the purchaser to have the right of running as many bootihs as he thinks fit, subject to the control of the General Committee. Mr T. P. Lett tendered his resignation os a member of the. Committee.— It ■ was dcdded that, in view of MiLett's previous, long services in the interests of the Association, his resignation'be not accepted, but that he be given leave of ahsence, , ■Mr Frank Moore, of Kai Iwi, adI vised that lie was sending .a rose bowl '■ for the points' prize in fat cattle at ! the coming slhow. ' He stated that he would be sending only a few fat cattle to tlie show himself this year.—lt was resolved to thank Mr Moore for Ms ;! generous gift, and to express the hope that he' would show as in the past; ; A letter was read from Mr W. B. : Allen, of Clareville, stating that iie 1 would give another stud ram for sale I as.directed by the Committee,-the "ro>j ceeds to he devoted to the funds of •I the Association. —A vote of thanks I was passed to Mr Allen for, his dona-. I tiro. I Messrs Freeman R. Jackson and Co., of Wanganui, wrote, expressing J regret that fcheir ram fair dates clashed with those of Masterton, _ They pointed out, however, that .their dates eoiiresponded:.AH3i'taioso of last year, and had been fixed contingent with the Waimarino and Te Kuiti shows. —

The communication was received. A, letter was read from Mr W. E. Bid will, enclosing a donation of £lO 10s, and mentioning that the Lower Valley had not yet been canvassed for special prizes.—lt € was decided- that a committee consisting of Messrs Q. uonald, Matthews, nnd McMaster be appointed to canvass the Lower Valley. Tfhe report of -the 'special meeting of the Ground, Luncheon and Produce Committee, at which seating and other matters .were arranged, Wias read. It was decided to erect_ fifty dog kennels, and to effect certain improvements in the produce hall. —The report was adopted. The treasurer reported a debit balance at date of £1833 14s 2d. Accounts amounting to £4.5 0s 4d -were passed for payment. The resignation of Mr W. R. Boyd, I of Matahiwi, as a member of the AsI. sociation, was received. I Tlie General Committee's report was read. This, among otflier things, suggested a scale of charges for the holding of stock sales in the Association's yards.—Mr 0. G. Cooper expressed the opinion that the charge made for holding clearing sales was somewhat high.—Considerable discussion' took place on tihe subject, and Mr W. JVj Welch, moved, that a minimum fee be fixed, to be graded from £5 up to .£lO. This was lost on the show of hands. A proposal that the matter be held over for further consideration was also negatived, and eventually tho ' report, as read, was adopted. The Finance Committee's report, which embraced the financial statement, was iread. It was decided that members be circularised in. reference to subscriptions, and that the AetingSeeretary be reappointed for a period of three "months, applications for the permanent Secretaryship to be thereafter called.
