SHOCKING FATALITY NEAR RANGIWAHIA
CHILI) KILLED'IN.TRAP ACCIDENT. WHOLE FAMILY SEVERELY ' INJURED. A shocking trap accident occurred at .Maugarim uHiH, neai' Rangrwahia, on Sunday evening last, Avhereby a young child was killed outright, and a "whole family i-eceived more or less severe injuries, says the Mangawoka Settler. From particular available it appears that Mr J. Bright, together with his wife and family, Avas returning from Rangiwahia, after a day's outing at the former place. Near the foot of the Mangarimu Hill, Mr Bright noticed a dog lying in the grass on the side of the road and ordered those in the trap to "ihold tight" in case the horse shied. Unfortunately his fears came to reality, 'flic animal shied wildly, and a;, it did so the dog sprang up and seized on© of its hind legs, causing the terrified horse to plunge to.one side, with the result that the tray and occupants «-ere Precipitated over <-he steep bank. The eldest boy succeeded in jumping' clear, but the rest of the family were carried over, the youngest child being killed. Hie remaining children were all severely shaken. Mrs Bright received heavy injuries, while her h isband had Ihis chest and back crushed. Assistance was speedily on the scene, and the victims received all possible attention.
