FREE HOSPITALS.
The legislator who succeeds in making the hospitals of this country free institutions will earn the lasting gratitude of a large section, of the community. At present these institutions are supported largely by the State (which means the people). Why should they not be entirely maintained from the consolidated revenue? The person who is compelled, through .accident or sickness, to seek shelter and attendance in a hospital, is a subject for commiseration, and should mot be asked to deny himself the /Kittle pleasure which remains to ham in life by being pestered for patients fees, llhere are few men. enjoying perfect health who would object to contribute towards the maintenance of those who are the victims of misfortune.
