A SEAMAN DROWNED
(By Teltgravh—Press Association*) GHRISTCHURQti. Last Night. An inquest was held to-day on 1 the body of the seaman Campbell, who was found in the Lyttelton Harbour the other day. William White, night watchman oh the Waipori, stated that at 1.30 a.m. on the sth inst. the deceased came down to his ship with a message for witness from the lamptrinmner of the Wakatu. Deceased had a botue of beer, but witness refused, to have any of it. and told mm to go on board his ship. Deceased, who was under the influence of liq-., uor, went off in the opposite direction, and as he did not return witness WAnt to look for him, and found hum asleep on 'the railway. , line at the mouth of the tunnel. Witness took him part of the way to the wharf, where the Wakatu was lying, and then went back to Jus own- sinp, which he ought not to Have left. Deceased must have tallen off the whaif after witness left at, 1.40 a.m. The Coroner returned a verdict that the deceased was found drowned hi. lyttelton Harbour. '
