MISSING FOR A WEEK,

At about 4.35 a.m. to-day, Mr Har-; ry Bowley, a Customs 1 officer oh the wharves at Lyttelton, Noticed the J body, of a man floating in the water i about 20 feet inside cif the east side j jof No. 6 wharf. He communicated! ] with the police, and the 'body wasj ! recovered.. Ihe face was all eaten away by fish, and the body hppear- ; led to have been in. the water for ! about week. £ t appeared to be |i?hat off a middile aged man of medium build about oft. 6iu in freight, , with buown hair. The body w« , clo'thed in a green, jersey, 'blue, trous-' ers, and elastic .suued boots. In. the pockets were found' two £1 'notes, 5s 6d in silver and a pocket knife. Acting Detective Carney identified the 'body as that of <a seamlan named Campbell,, belonging to the. steamer iWiakaitu, who missing last Thursday. Detective Carney wa> speaking to him that night, and he appeared to be till well. He was .wearing a coat which • had -since* been.dfoiind in a right-of .way off Norwich 'Quay.
