In a sub-leaden- in our issue of Saturday, ilb was made to appear that Mr D. E. Barton had expressed tine opinion that the administration of the affairs oif Fiji by a High, Commissioner was unisatisifactory. infos is hardly a correct presientvitioni ot the position. It is the system of adininisterilng affairs from Downing Street that (the islanders object to, and not tlue administration., which is all that could be desired. It is onlyfair to state, also, that the reference to New Zealand's debt was not made by Mir Barton himself. This- was an opinion! expressed by Fiji, Manid«re, and not by Mr Parfton.
