ADMIRALTY CONTRACTS
AND THAMES-IRON WORKS. (Received Last Night, 9.50 o'clock.) LONDON, January 3. The Admiralty, in replying to tlio Receiver, states that the Thames Iron Works' tender for building two cruisers was £300,000 a-piece, compared with £269,000 elsewhere. Unless substantial firms wore .Willing to construct cruisers for the Thames ut prices approximating those ruling in the trade, orders for-cruisers must be given clsewfhcro.
