The first', local option poll in respect of the Maori naoe was held today, .to the Taki'tima Maori CouncilL District, .i'm common with sdmiilar polls l in' the Horouta (Waiapu), Arawa (Rotorua), and Northern Wairba Maori' Council 5 districts, line poll was taken, for" flhe purpose of deciding whether liquor shall''or shall not be supplied to the Maoris of thie distritetsl' mentdoiied. The question submitlted was, 'Shall liquor be supplied to Maoris? The poll resonlted' as* follows :
Takfituha.— "Yes," 562; "No," 232; Horouta, "Yes" 386; "No" 550; £rawa, "Yes," 443; "No," 131.
