In the case which is. being heard in the Bow Stereet Police Court, in which the Cbmtes«e De Muni a alleges that she was blackmailed, the ComtesEe gave evidence that Glerciinnihg and Page demanded £IOOO from her'. They" eventually reduced the demand to £4OO.
Oross-ex&.irjining counsel asked if O'Connor, who was concerned in the case, was an impecunious, man. The Co-miteese replied that he hiad .£3500 a- yeas- when she- fust ,Jcnew, ; him. Counsel angrily dissented, and a "scene" ensued. The Magistrate ordered; the adjournment of the case.
