Mrs W. Cooper, who has been for a trip to England, returned .to her. home at Masterton last week. Mr and Mrs John Strang and their daughter from "Glenside," Gladstone,, are on their way back now, and are expected to arrive soon after Christmas. Mr Strang's large circle offriends will be pleased to hear that the latest letters state that his eye* are quite well again.
The Grey town Standard regrets to. hear of the death at Napier on Tuesday, of Mrs George Morton, (eldest daughter of the late Mr J. Desmond,., of P'apawai). The funeral of the late Mr John Cotter, who' was killed in .a , motoraccident near Masterton, took place fit Greytown on Tuesday. The Revs. A.. M. Johnston, Young, and Page conducted the ceremony. The procession was a very large" one-, for £he deceased gentleman was held in great respect throughout the district.
• The wedding was celebrated in Masterton yesterday of Miss Mary Russell Ritchie, eldest daughter" of Mr and Mrs J. Ritcnie;of Common House. Parish of - Soot, . Haddingtonshire; Scotland, to., Mr Herbert William. Braggins, second son of the late Mr Thomas Braggins, of Masterton. Miss Connie Braggins was bridesmaid, and Mr W. Palamontain best. man. . The bride was given away by her brother, Mr'' Wi- Ritchie.- Mr and Mrs Braggins left by the afternoon train on a-: •tour of the North Island. A large number of guests attended a recep : tion at the residence of the .bridegroom's mother in the evening. Many costly and useful presents were received, by the happy couple. The Rev. J. C. Mill and Mr H. R, Wilton' will represent the Pahiatua Presbyterian Church at the meeting to be held in Masterton next week to form a Wairarapa Presbytery. iMr F. J. Goodwin, who was appointed some months- ago to the charge of the Church of Christ, Pahiatua, contemplates returning with. Mrs Goodwin 'to Melbourne in February, and lias given three months' notice of the termination of his engagement in order to allow of a successor being obtained.
