MASTERTON BOROUGH COUNCIL
MEETING OF COMMITTEE
The monthly meeting of the committee of the Masterton Borough Council was held last evening, there being present: His Worship the Mavor (Mr J. M. Coradine), Ors. A. Donald, J. Prentice, W. Pragnell, W. Ce-ndy, T. G. Hoar, F. W. Temple, J. Elliott, and H. J. O'Leary . The reports of the Borough officers were ready as follow: — LIBRARY. Twenty-four new books have been s added to the library during the past montJh, bringing the total to 5992. The number of books lent was 1709, subscriptions collected total £6 10s 6d. ABATTOIR. The stock slaughtered during November was as follows-.—Cattle 101. calves 7, sheep and lambs 692, pigs 194. These included 49 cows, 32 bullocks, 20 maiden heifers, 233 ewes, 196 wethers, and 106 maiden ewes. The aggregate charges totalled £9O 13s 3d. POUND. Animals impounded.—From withwl I the 'borough: Horses 20, cattle 2, ' sheep 0, and pigs 0; from beyond the borough: horses 2, cattle 3. Twentythree horses and five cattle wero released. A sum of £2 19s 6d was banded to-the borough treasurer. GENERAL. The Secretary of the Wellington Harbour Board wrote stating that consideration of the Council's tetter in connection ''with' the expenses ;>f the Harbourf Board election had been held over till next meeting. Accounts totalling, £1768 2s 8d were submitted and passed for payment. - / ;' ". Or. Donald drew the attention of the Engineer to the rough state of Timothy Street. • i Cole Street vras mentioned by Cr. ! Bragnell, but rt was stated that nothing was to hz done there until the now drain was iaid.
