ABOUT VOTERS' PERMITS.
A good deal of anriiety has been expressed. by holders of a'.'sent \oters' permits', as to what wall happen in the event of eneir being vi the Waijrarapa electorite on ..:he day of tinsecfond '*aHot for Mast'?rt<:", alid' there, being no second ballot, and consequently no polling places, in the former electorate. Provision for this contingency i© made in clause 4-2 of the Act, which reads:—"(l) If •the holder of a voting permit issued for a district in whiidh a second ballot is- required, to be "aken, or in. which a by-election is- held, desiresto exercise hie permit he shall, for tiiie purpose of recording his ! _ vote, apply to any postmaster to have a ballot-paper issued to him, and shall deliver his voting permit to tliat postmaster, and sign an application in the form numbered 9 in the schedule luexeto. (2) The postmaster sliall thereupon proceed in. the manner prescribed by till© last preceding section in the case of apjplicatdon to a deputy returning officer, and shall give to the hfolder of the voting permit a ballot-paper, and - afterwards deal with the same and. the application- in the manner prescribed by that section." The ''manner described" is the methods set forth for the guidance of deputy retuninng officers. . <
