MASTERTON RACING CLUB.

MEETING OF STEWARDS.

The monthly meeting of the Mas-ter-ton Racing O'ub was held on Saturday afternoon, there being present, — Messrs CF. Y/alance (chairman), J. Maca-ra; D. uVlcLacMan, W. Hatt, W. J. Welch, J. WQiittaker, R. Buick, 0. C. Cooper, C. J. Bennett, J. loriis, F. E. Dorset, W. Cooper and G. H. Yates. A trainer's license was recommended for W. Thomps<oni, .and a gentleman rider's license for H. E. Russell. Mr W. H. E. Wanklyn forwarded Sir Geo. Clifford's- rule on riding allowance claimed by apprentices. An application for a gentleman rider's certificate for G. Bottomley wiais- received from iMr G. Hawiey Drew.

The Inspector of Pfcilice wrote, s-tat-ijlig that a. detective would ibe present at the race meeting. Mr. T. Cameron (intimated- that he would be prepared ito act as> starter. Messrs Obapmlam> and Tripp and. Levin svnd Co. forwarded communications re loam and mortgage. It was decided to sell the right of disposing of race /books to Mr P. Gilbert.

It was reported that tenders for numbers for judge's box, amid estimate for gong, etc., li-ad been dealt with by the building committee. The following officials- were appointed, for the coming meeting:—■ Horses out, F. E. Donset and A. J. Welch; horses in, D. McLaohl'am anid J. Whittaker; totalisator steward, W. Pfllatt; inside gates, W. PHatt and G. H. Yates; notices' out, C. A. Pownal and J. B. iYioodie.; clerk of scales, W. Cooper; outside gates, A. (Reside and A. J. Welch; judg&s of running, C; J. Bennett, B. Buwck arid A. G. PiiLmea'. The secretory was empowered to arrange foil- the disposal>of the'temperance booth (privil'ege. The Treasurer reported a- credit balance) at the Bank of £464 4.s 3d. Messrs-'Evans and W. Hasten were elected new members.
