Mr Charles Massey, accountant at the- Bank of Australasia at Stratford, who is at present acting as manager at Wa.ver.lcy, has been promoted- to tli3 managership of the" Stratford branch, vice Mr W. Johnston, who lias been transferred to the managership the hank's branch at Masterton.
Mr W P. Snell. one of the- best known citizens of Waitara, Taiunaki, is dead. M r Snell, who was 76 years of age, was a Devonshire man. He came to New Zealand in 1863, and was at first engaged in mining.on the West Coast. In 1865 lje went to Tarmaki, and for some years was store-keeping at Pukearnbe.
At a .special meeting of the '.kago Education Hoard there were fiftj applications I'or two woodwork instruc-tor-ships, and twenty-four for two positions of agricultural instructors. Eorthefairinor.positions,Percy A Jacksmn (Oamaru) and Walter 0. Wakelin (Dii.iiedi.ti) were appointed, and >'or the latter 15. S. Green (Xew South Walesl and E. J. Healey (Dimedin).
