PAHIATUA STOCK SALE
Messrs Abraham and Williams, report as follows:—We had a good yarding of sheep and a very heavy yarding of cattle numbering over, 800, the bulk of which comprised empty dairy'heifers. These were represented most by well-bred sorts, there being some exceptionally fine pens of Jersey -and Holstein heifers, most of the better quality heifers going to the Wairarapa and Manawatu.. Sheep sold well, and we made a total clearance. Quotations: —Ewes and lambs, 10sl0dto25s; woolly ewe hoggets, 16s 8d; woolly wethers lOd; dry ewes, 12s 6d to 12s 9d; Holstein and Jersey cross heifers £5 5s to £6; Shorthorn heifers, £3 16s to £4 9s; medium sorts, £3 7s to £4 Iv; yearling heifers, £2 9s 6d to £3 4s; dairy bulls, £3 15s to £lO ss; Heifers in calf. £4 to £4 7s 6d; springers, £6 15s to £7 14s; empty cows, £3 3s tid to £3 11; 18-months steers, £3 15s; yearling steers, £2 10s to £2 17s.''
