AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS

MELBOURNE, November 2G

Brookes has selected Lycett as fourth representative in the Davis Cup contest. In the singles championship of Australia, Brookes defeated Rico 6—l, 6 —2, 6—3. The champion's ground attack and anticipation of volleying was all extremely skilful. His opponent never once got the lead. In tho doubles championship Heath and Lycett beat Brookes and Addison, 6—2, 7—5, 6—o. Miss L. Addison won tho ladies •singles championship of Victoria. Lady and Captain Vernon were beaten out in the semi-finals of the combined handicap doubles.
