THE SECOND BALLOT.
The position taken up by Mr G. R. Sykes at the EketaJinma meeting in regard to the second ballot, is one that does him credit. He stated that if Mr Herbert were to get into tlie .second ballot, he would- use his best effort to secure; his' return. He naturally expected that Mr Herbert would do the same for him. It is reported, however, that Mr Her'beirt consndeirs the understanding between) himself and Mr Sykes has been voided through a section of the Opposition press taking a pronounced side. If this is true, it is l very much to be regretted.. The only hope the Reform Party has 1 of winning , the 6eat isjto present a united tfront, a-nd to vote solid for the Reform candidate at both ballots.
