In tho Assembly, Mr' Earl, leader of the Labour party, opposed the travefiance .allowance for tie Governor included in the estimates. He declared that a State Governor was unnecessary. Tho proper link between 't'he State and the Throne was tho Governor-General. If the people wanted pomp and show in their ceremonies, let them pay for it. It was the tin-pot aristocrat that wanted to kow-tow to a Governor and who desired him to travel to this place and that. The deputy leader of the party declared that the post of a Governor was a useless excrescence. The item struck out was 14s 9d.
