The announcement has been made this week that cattle tick has. been discovered in the Nortli Island. It appears that ticks were found Kt two cases, and one dead tick was forwarded by a stock inspector to the Veterinary Department in Wellington. The ticks, however, were not diseased, and unless they arte diseased are not likely to be injurious to cattle. In Queens'land they usually carry a noxious microbe that gets into the ibliood of cattle andi causes the tick fever. No such, fever has so 'far been discovered/ in New Zealand, and the Veterinary Department does not thank that there need be any ajarm about the receait discovery of ticks in the nlarth. of Auckland. The Department, however, is taking every care to prevent the spread of ticks', and . cattle wihere they have ibeen found have been carefully disinfected'.
