His Excellency the Governor (Lord Islington) reached Nelson overland from Blenheim last evening, and was welcomed by the Mayor. A public welcome will bo tendered to-day. His Excellency will attend the Nelson show, amd also visit Motueka. He leaves on Thursday for the West Coast. \ *

Mr Thomas Moss, of Newman, who recently returned from the Old Country, was on a visit to Masterton yesterday. Mr Moss, who is in splendid health, states that he experienced only one wet day during the whole time he was at home.

It is understood that the Railway Department Jiave appointed Mr Oa&ey, of Palmerston North, to lie stationmaster at Hukanui.

Mr Allan, who is in the employ of Mr Giffin, of Hukanui, is leaving for Auckland at an early date.

During the absence of Mr R. A. Largo in Poverty Bay, Mr T. V. Cavorhill, of Carterton, will represent Messrs W. Diriioek and Co. in the Waiij! rapa.
